Don't Disturb This Groove BlogAt Floor Coverings International of Lawrenceville, we love bringing you creative insight and perspectives from bloggers who are kind enough to share their wisdom and how they got started. Today we have an interview with Brandi, home decor blogger at Don’t Disturb This Groove.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I grew up in New Jersey and I’m the oldest amongst my siblings. Currently, I live outside of Atlanta, Georgia. I share my home with my husband, two teenage children and our dogs. I love photography, creating, decorating and preparing delicious meals for my family and friends to enjoy.

Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?

I started blogging in 2010 purely for fun. My blog is a platform to share my ideas and inspirations. It’s a great way to keep track of the changes we’ve made to our home.
I enjoy writing. Blogging has made me a better at communicating. I appreciate the connections I’ve made through blogging. I love the interaction between like minded people. I’ve formed great friendships through blogging.

How would you describe your design style?

I would describe my style as budget-friendly decorating ideas. I love using neutral colors as a base for the rooms in my home. I love decorating with natural wood tones. I want the rooms in my home to feel bright, airy and uncluttered. Having a small budget doesn’t mean you can’t have a home that you love.

Where do you find most of your inspiration?

My mother is my biggest inspiration. She showed me how to take care of home. She inspired me to be more creative, to laugh, have fun and to know when to say no. She instilled in me the value of kindness. Her spirit lives within me.

Tell us about a recent project you’re proud of.

My newly revamped dining room is my favorite project. Painting the room made a huge impact. It was so dark before. I chose items for the room that I loved. I kept things neutral with pops of texture. It’s the perfect space for my family.
